I’m so proud of you for booking a brand session for your business! That’s a step in the right direction and I’m excited for you. But how do you make sure you’re really taking advantage of your shoot? I’m here to tell you.

One // Bring multiple outfits.
Bringing multiple outfits guarantees some variety in your photos. It can get repetitive if you post a bunch of photos of you in the same outfit on your social media. Most of my clients bring 2-3 outfits.

Two // Plan your content ahead of time.
Don’t think of your brand shoot as just a fun photoshoot. Of course it will be fun, but this is also a business investment. So you need to have a plan for how you’ll use the photos once the photoshoot is over.
Before your shoot, think about where you are in need of photos right now. Some common places to use brand photos are:
Once you know where you plan to use your photos, you can make sure your photographer takes the right photos. For example, you might need photos that have a lot of empty space on top for Pinterest or wide photos for blog post banners.
Another fun way to take advantage of a brand shoot is to bring holiday-specific items so you always have something to post on social media for holidays.
Three // Establish your brand identity.
You can have beautiful brand photos taken without any brand strategy behind them, but with strategy, the brand photos will be a lot more useful.
A great start to figuring out your brand is to create a Pinterest board with colors, words, and images that you feel reflect your brand. Once you have your inspiration board, you should answer these questions:
If you already have an established brand, then just reflect on that brand before your shoot.
