An app that is supposed to be fun and social has actually become a stressor in a lot of people’s lives. And since you’re reading this blog post, you’re probably one of those people.
There are a few things you can do to make your time on the app a little better. I’ve put those things in a list. I hope these tips help take a little bit of the stress out of Instagram for you and help you to reach more of your people.
One // Post high quality photos.
There are at least two ways that you can achieve this. You can buy a nice camera or you can hire a photographer to take some photos for you.
I know, both of those things cost money. “How is that an *easy* way to level up my insta, Haili?” Well, sometimes the easiest thing you can do to help your business is to invest in it. And this is an area that the investment will pay for itself.
Two // Post consistently
I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not always good at this one. It’s really hard to consistently post content–it takes a lot of work and you sometimes have to get creative with the content you have.
It really helps me to use a planning app so I can plan a lot of content at once and I can write out posts when I have the inspiration or motivation while still posting at the best times. Because the creativity often comes after midnight and that’s just not the best time to post unfortunately. 🙃 The screenshot above is my calendar in Planoly!
Three // Offer value in your posts
It’s just not enough these days to post a pretty photo and a cute quote. Yes, it’s important to share photos of what you sell, but if you want to level up your Instagram presence (the whole point of this blog post), then you’ve got to start offering value to your audience.
The value can be found in the actual photo or video you share, the caption you write out to go with your visual, or in a blog post that you reference in the post. No matter how you do it, just give your followers (and potential or actual clients) a *reason* to keep following you.
Four // Share about you and your life
People don’t follow brands and businesses, they follow people. They might be interested in your product or service, but I promise they will be even more interested once they get to know the human behind the @.
How can you do this? Share peeks into your everyday life through stories and post photos of YOU on your feed. And make sure you’re really showing your personality, not just model-perfect photos. Let your followers see your smile, your laugh, your style…let them see who you really are.
If you let people get to know you, they’ll be even more likely to continue to follow you and buy whatever you’re selling.
